Kenneth Joseph Hammond
Kenneth Joseph Hammond age 80 of Sedalia died on Saturday, December 31, 2016 at his home. He was born on September 26, 1936 in Oswego, New York son of Joseph Sidney and Phenie Seely Hammond. on December 14, 1958 in Sedalia he married Margaret Sue Schick and she survives of the home. Kenneth worked on the family dairy farm in New York while growing up. He went in the Air Force in 1957 and was discharged as a Mst. Sgt. from Whiteman Air Force Base. He was a plumber starting in 1962 at Lambirth Plumbing Comany joining Foley Plumbing Company in 1975 as a foreman and became branch manager in 1977 and ran the company until his retirement in 1998. He enjoyed woodworking, collecting sports memorabilia and rare coins. Besides his wife he is survived by two daughters; Cheryl Schuber (Wayne) of Hughesville, Tammy Hammond of Sedalia, one son; Mark Hammond (Beci) of Sedalia, one sister; Viola Kunzwiler of Oswego, New York, six grandchildren; Michael, Tyler (Laura) Amie (Jalal), Shelby (Shane), Geoffrey, Joseph (Alicia), two great grandchildren; Noah, Jude and one due in March. He was preceded in death by two brothers; Infant Charles Hammond and Sidney Hammond, four sisters; Inez Ricci, Martha Attwood, Marguerite Wyman and Dawn Hammond. Funeral service will be at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, January 5, 2017 at Ewing-Schutte-Semler Funeral Home with Rev. Edward L. Spencer officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at the funeral home. Serving as pallbearers will be Delmar Griffith, Kevin Halgren, Brian Smith, Dan Tallman, Joe Arnold and Brent Sandidge. Honorary pallbearers will be Angela Harvey, Lucy Dirck, Connie Sandidge, Debbie Brown, Freda Smith, Stanley Potts and Bill Wyatte. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery in Sedalia.
