Charles E. Billingsley
Charles E. Billingsley passed away on January 31, 2017 at his son's home in Sedalia. He was born in Sedalia on September 23, 1928 where he lived his whole life. His parents were William Charles and Margaret T. Birch Billingsley who preceded him in death. On February 6, 1949 he married Wilda Chancellor at the Church Of God in Sedalia where they were members and she preceded him on December 6, 2014. The church was a important part of their life and they were very dedicated in their faith. They were blessed with four children they loved dearly. There is one daughter, Judy Neel (Joe) of Windsor, three sons, Larry Billingsley, Gary Billingsley (Julie) both of Sedalia and Jerry Billingsley (Tonya) of Green Ridge, two brothers, Bob and Earl Billingsley, both of Sedalia. His family grew more with eleven grandchildren; Pam, Julie, Joe, Michael, J.R., Crystal, Gary, Jason, Jill, Shauna and Madison, twenty-one great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Charles worked at Bing's around ten years, Cash Hardware for some time and then twenty-six years at Whiteman Air Force Base in Civil Service where he retired from. Charles never met a stranger. He would start a conversation with anyone as he would have known them for years. He also loved to tell a joke. Charles, with his wife went to Four Seasons Nursing Home every other week for fifteen years to have a church service for the residents there and they spent years driving people to doctor appointments, grocery store, shopping and whatever the people needed. He loved to help and the two of them were quite a team in their day. Bowling was a very big part of his fun time. He probably bowled on leagues for at least forty years and enjoyed every night where he had made many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a sister, Eva Mae Taber, a brother Johnny Billingsley. Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. Friday at Ewing-Schutte-Semler Funeral Home with Rev. Chris Gray officiating. The family will receive friends from 9:30 A.M. until service time on Friday. Serving as pallbearers will be J.R. Billingsley, Michael Billingsley, Jason Billingsley, Gary Lee Billingsley, Doug Wirt, Wyatt Wirt and Jonathan DuBois. Burial will be in Highland Sacred Gardens.
