Evelyn Mae Vannoy
Evelyn Mae Vannoy age 96 formerly of Hughesville died on Sunday, June 19, 2016 at the Sylvia G. Thompson Residence Center in Sedalia. She was born on August 12, 1919 in Green Ridge, daughter of Charles and Eva Ream Upton. On April 9, 1938 in Green Ridge she married Everett Vannoy and he preceded her in death on August 28, 2002. Evelyn graduated from Green Ridge School District. She was a homemaker and a farm wife. Evelyn enjoyed cooking and was a wonderful baker. A past member of Bethel United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School for a number of years. Evelyn later was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church. Evelyn was a grandmother extraordinaire, loving mother and wife. She was a devoted caregiver in her husbands later years. Evelyn was a long time resident of the Hughesville area, where she served as a 4-H leader for a number of years. She is survived by two sons; Dean Vannoy (Sharon) of Hughesville, Harold Vannoy (Anna Lee) of Rochester Hills, Michigan, one brother; Robert Upton of Sedalia, five grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by one son; Dale Vannoy, one brother; Julian Upton, one sister Elinor Upton. Funeral service will be at 10:00 A.M. Monday, June 27, 2016 at Ewing-Schutte-Semler Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Downing, Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:30 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Sunday. Serving as pallbearers will be Mike Upton, David Upton, Shannon Teeter, Leon Telgemeier, Bob McKeehan and Chad McKeehan. Honorary Pallbearer will be Neil Upton.
